The Seasickness Trifecta

3 Ways to Prevent Seasickness on Your Next Cruise!

One of the reasons we avoided cruising for so long was the Mrs gets really seasick.. even on a calm ferry crossing she would have a tough time. I’m very lucky, I don’t get motion sick at all and will eagerly jump on every ride at the amusement park.

Well after careful research she was able to overcome this on our recent 7 night Mediterranean cruise, and I was very worried because the first two nights were really rough. Nonetheless she slept great and didn’t get seasick for the entire cruise!

Now I am not a doctor so this is not medical advice by any means, but here are the three things Amanda used to prevent seasickness and we now refer to this as the Seasickness Trifecta! 😆

1. Bonine

These chewable tablets are similar to Dramamine without the drowsy side effects. We’ve heard it’s best to start these around 4 days before your cruise. There are raspberry and peppermint flavors available…

2. Motion Sickness Patches

These herbal patches go behind your ear, they recommend applying them 10 minutes before travel and they’re supposed to last between 1-3 days.

3. Acupressure Wrist Bands

These wrist bands apply pressure on the “Nei-Kuan acupuncture points” on your wrist and they’re meant to help the body restore balance, and therefore reduce the feeling of being seasick. This was the first thing Amanda used on our very first cruise and she felt some relief right away.

If you have any other ideas I’d love to hear about them.

Happy Travels!
